A much better way to do your gift shopping is to look for discounts year round. After Christmas, I found some cute t-shirts for a buck a piece. Great for next Christmas. The bracelets I posted about on my main page will make good gifts for anything. Do the deal shopping and find nice gifts all of the time, then it's less stressful when the actual event rolls around.
Saving Money All Over the Place
There are tons of ways to save money on things other than groceries. Some things are easy and don't take more than a few minutes to do. Other things take time. It's up to you to decide how you want to spend your time on which things.

Gift Giving
There are all sorts of things that people give gifts for. Christmas presents, birthday presents, Mother's day, Father's day, Easter, Valentine's Day, kids birthday parties, etc, etc, etc. When you go out and buy these gifts when the time comes, you usually end up #1, not sure what to get and spend too much time shopping, #2 spending full price for a nice present.

Habitat for Humanity Restore
This is an awesome place to shop for home improvement things. And all sales benefit Habitat for Humanity, so it's even better. They have a large building full of building materials and . . . stuff, for home projects. I think most of it is donations from contractors when they have left overs after a project. It's like a big thrift shop.
